Fertility Medication to Increase Fertility

Taking fertility drugs for infertility problems is usually the first step in treatment. There are several fertility drugs that are available on the market.  Your doctor will either be able to help you in choosing an effective fertility medication or direct you to a fertility specialist that can prescribe one for you.

Just like all medications, these drugs can cause side effects and you will need to be monitored closely by your doctor while you are taking them.

Some of the more popular and prescribed drugs are: Follistim, Clomid, Repronex, Gonal-F, Brayelle, Menopur, Progesterone, Lupron, Metformin and hCG.

Fertility drugs in women act as hormones that stimulates the ovaries to release eggs. Stimulating the ovaries, to release more than the normal one egg during ovulation, increases the likelihood of fertilization.

Fertility drugs are also being used to treat the causes of male infertility. These treatment drugs can help with low sperm count, or slow moving sperm.

Fertility drugs are considered relatively safe.  There are many different types of drugs and treatment plans available to aid with infertility.

If you think that you are a good candidate for fertility drugs, then you need to discuss your options with your doctor.
